I was so excited to photograph this NOLA themed engagement session. Jeanne and Derrick are one of a kind. They’re the people you’ve never hung out with before but the conversation just flows easily. Jeanne and Derrick are just “chill” and easy to hang with. I met Jeanne when I photographed the GBHS Cheerleading Squad and Jeanne serves as their head coach. I could see from the get go that Jeanne was passionate, organized and so kind. The way she treated each and every person with respect showed how she truly cared for each student on her squad. As Jeanne and I chatted, she mentioned she was engaged and eloping in Maui, Hawaii next year.
I wanted to know all the details. As time went on, Jeanne and I became friends. Her Mom reached out to me to see if I was available to photograph some sections of the wedding week.
Are you serious??
So, I booked my ticket to Maui and I’ll be heading there with my sister in June 2022 to witness this beautiful marriage! I can’t wait to spend the week with these two and I’m even more excited to see what their future holds.
Meanwhile, they talked about engagement photos and their love of New Orleans. I told them we should do all the NOLA Themed Engagement Session things and bring in beignets, champagne, and head downtown where the architecture best represents that area. It was a hit!
All my best,
Jordan West
