Second lines, beignets, and moon pies, OH MY! Casey and Knox leaned into the New Orleans culture for this incredible wedding! This couple is like no other.. In fact, I can’t think of an exact detail that wasn’t incredibly intentional for their wedding day. After talking with her Dad on the phone leading up to the wedding, I believe he summed it up best. “She dances to the beat of her own drum and does exactly what she wants.” Currently, Casey and Knox live in Bahrain so communication was iffy. I felt the need to always preface my text massages with “Hey! I really hope I’m not waking you!” But clearly, this event came together perfectly.
Casey didn’t want a busy, stressful day with a jam-packed timeline. She didn’t want a bridal party, but also had not shortage of sweet girl friends surrounding her. She wanted to get ready as late as she possibly could. And, these intentional decisions paid off in a huge way. This lead to the wedding day being relaxed, stress-free (aside from praying the rain wouldn’t come). I’ll set the scene for you. The evening of the Rehearsal Dinner, we met up at the Rib Room at the Omni Royal Orleans. Her Dad hopped on the piano, everyone gathered around and sang their hearts out. Classics played like “Benny and the Jets” and it set the tone for the entire weekend.
So, flash forward to the day of the wedding, the Weather Radar was looming over us. Although I had my rain boots and umbrella at the ready, we never saw a single drop. Call it wedding day magic, if you will. We started off in the room getting ready and lead into the sweetest first look with her Dad in the lobby of the Omni Royal Orleans. Might I add, the lighting was just divine?
This venue was gorgeous, inside and out. A timeless, classic New Orleans feel. The bride’s Dad, Richard told me his family used to come to Sunday Brunch at this location and listen to the jazz band. The greenery in the courtyard with gorgeous architecture and fountain. Plus, the white floors and walls made it a photographer’s dream. However, I couldn’t have captured that I did without the beauty of Casey and Knox radiating from the inside out. Trust me when I say, we were thankful for no rain. But y’all.. it got HOT! We did a second line throughout the streets of New Orleans and felt like celebrities. Truly, we had no idea the heat would be such a factor! Knox and Casey took it all in stride and soaked in every second.
The venue made Banana’s Foster and served it alongside the cake, and the couple ended the night dancing the night away to the live jazz band. Honestly, I was sad to leave knowing Knox and Casey were on their way back to Bahrain. I know this is a couple I will stay in touch with forever.
Knox and Casey, what an honor it was to photograph your New Orleans Wedding. I can’t wait for you to move back. I love you both, dearly!
