How lucky am I to have these experiences when Jeanne and Derrick could have chosen any Maui Wedding Photographer? When I pulled up to the Old Lahaina Luau for John + Derrick’s rehearsal dinner, I thought “Oh yeah, this is the real deal.” If you haven’t heard from my Instagram and last blog post, I had the incredible honor of traveling to Maui, Hawaii and photographing Jeanne + Derrick throughout their wedding week.

A Photographer’s Dream

Their Rehearsal Dinner was at the famous Old Lahaina Luau which recommended by everyone I know who has ever been. It’s known for being the best and most authentic Luau not only in Maui but the state of Hawaii. We showed up and were “leid” with beautiful, purple florals native to Hawaii. There were so many helpful staff members walking around with fresh fruit juiced and they kept the Mai Tai’s flowing all night long. The food never stopped coming, either. I kept turning to the people around me and asking “Is this the main course? This has gotta be the main course, right?” It was not the main course.

I left so stuffed and happy.

Setting the Stage in Maui

The backdrop of the entire Luau set an amazing stage for the entertainment. You can check out the photographs to see how amazing the sunset was being that we were on the West side of Maui where the sun sets perfectly. Every single dance and story was executed perfectly. They even did the famous dance from one of my favorite Disney movies, Lilo and Stitch!

But, while I wasn’t eating or watching the beautiful entertainment, I was able to photograph Jeanne, Derrick and their guests. To think, two years ago I started this business and now I’m in Maui as a Wedding Photographer? Jeanne was a vision in a vibrant, blue dress and she seemed to float across the floor all night with grace and ease. No surprise there. Check out our photos below.
