The Jenkins Family reached out to me looking for family photos on the beach this summer. Pensacola Beach is their annual vacation spot and I was so excited to meet them. It was actually a cool, breezy evening which is something I pray for heading into the summer season. Family sessions can be a little hot, and a lot miserable on some nights for kids. This was NOT one of them!
When I arrived, I could tell by the boys’ golden glow and sun kissed eyes they had spent some time in the sun! I typically tell families not to worry about this because the camera is flattering and I can always bring redness down in post processing. Their session still turned out beautifully!
As we were talking, the Mom, Mandy, told me she really loved a good mix of candid photos alongside the posed portraits. When it comes to kids who are over the age of 5, they aren’t really wanting to give hugs and kisses much anymore. Well, not in front of a stranger with a camera! 😉
As we walked down to the beach I made sure to chat with the boys and pick their brain about their interests. Their younger son, Grant couldn’t stop talking about the slugs and seashells he was finding. This made me so happy, because I am also an avid seashell hunter and lover!
We had the boys race against one another, hunt for seashells, and the best part was at the end of the session. Mom and Dad decided to get a little further in the water in their fancy clothes and have a splash fight with the kids! It added a ton of variety and FUN to their session. And if you know me, I’m all about a good time.
So ,whether you’re here for a staycation or vacation.. Family photos on the beach are always a great idea.
