Stormy skies didn’t hold up the Brown Family in Destin, Florida, in fact they leaned into it and had the best time. When Jarred inquired with me, he told me about their four kids (a set of twins with bookends) which I thought was so adorable. When is comes to family photographers in Destin, we LOVE big families. There’s so much room for dynamic movement, fun, and posing.

A Typical Florida Evening

As nature would have it, there was a pop-up storm I had my eye on all morning. We were on the fence about rescheduling but decided to move forward. It was coming up on Fourth of July weekend. We knew the beach would only get more crowded in Destin day to day. On my drive over, skies were clear and the air was calm. The moment I walked onto the beach with the Brown Family, the wind picked up significantly and a giant shelf cloud appeared to the east. I have the picture of the shelf cloud below if you’d like to see it! If you live in Florida, you know this is standard. I offered to come back out the next day and reschedule because hair was all over the place and we were getting pelted with sand, but Jarred and his wife, Jennifer wanted to push through! The end results were so worth it.

When it’s windy, I try to tell me clients to lean into it, especially for candid ones. Move your partners hair out of their face, laugh into each other, and… have fun! The Brown Family did just that and had the best time. We even had one kiddo take a full tumble into the ocean while pretending to do a splash fight! Keep scrolling to see their images.
