St. Augustine is one of the most charming cities Florida has to offer. It’s located near Jacksonville and on the East Coast of Florida. I love visiting because the downtown area is so charming and walkable. The buildings are so colorful and inviting. Once you arrive, if you’re close enough to downtown you won’t need to take a car most places, and of course the beach is close by. I’ve written up a few places that are a must see when you travel to America’s Ancient City.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse is a must visit on your trip. The Maritime Museum is attached and has plenty of rich history to offer, a cute snack stand to cool off while you walk around, and some air conditioned areas for the summer heat. A fair warning, the trek to the top of the lighthouse is long and tough. But the view from the top is incredible.
If you’re only here for a short trip or a girls trip, I can’t recommend The Local Augustine enough. It’s a self-check-in and newly renovated motel. It’s adorable. The colors and outdoor areas are perfectly charming and it’s wedged right between the downtown and beach locations.
If there’s one place you need to pop in, come here for Happy Hour! No matter how long the line is! Just check out their menu for proof. I’m not a martini person because they give me a headache and I’m more of a beer and wine girl, but these martinis are amazing. Not only that, but you get the entire sharker for the price of one drink which ends up being about 2.5 martinis. It’s a great spot to have a few drinks before dinner or a ghost tour!
We actually didn’t plan to stumble into this restaurant but we’re so glad we did! It was pouring down rain on the day we decided to go out and explore the city. We popped in here and decided to grab brunch. It was heavenly. Their brunch boards come with a little bit of everything and ALL of the sauces. The owner(s) were there and were incredibly friendly, offered us towels since we were soaking wet from rain, and made great suggestions. The cappuccinos warmed us right off but then we got the fun started with some mimosa beers!
More to come from St. Augustine and all it has to offer!
