If you’ve been looking for a sign to have a friend photoshoot, this is it. This shoot was one of the most entertaining experiences of my life. When Mallory reached out to me to do a best friend photoshoot, I was ecstatic. There is something so pure about the love between friends and the way it translates into photographs. We had everything planned, Mallory’s friend, Maddie was in town for a short amount of time and we were all set to have a great time and capture their friendship.
A few days later, I got the text. “Hey girl let me know if you need the code to the door.” I checked my calendar. I double checked it. Triple checked it. Our shoot wasn’t scheduled until the next day. I responded that our shoot wasn’t for another 24 hours. No big deal. Except it was a huge deal. Maddie was leaving the next day to fly home. I was shooting Santa Mini Sessions that day and the Snakehips concert at Lagunas that night. Time was not on our side, but I knew I had to make something work.
I drove out to Gulf Shores with zero time to spare and I am so thrilled that I did. Mallory and Maddie are absolutely hilarious and they reminded me why I love this job. They had a bottle of coffee Patron (which my sister and I used to partake in) and it just added to the comedy. I fully support having a drink before or during your shoot to loosen up, if that’s your thing. Maddie and Mallory of course needed some personality pics, and wanted to use 90s JCPenney studio pictures as inspiration. There was never a dull moment!
These girls did not take themselves seriously and just had fun, which makes my job so much easier. Give me all of the bestie shoots, bachelorettes, girl’s trips, all of it. Capturing people being themselves, having fun, and with people they love will never get old!
