Typically, I stick with families and weddings. However, every once in a while, the right opportunity presents itself and I jump at it for a fun project. Photographing the Pensacola Interstate Fair was one of those opportunities. Any time I can be a fly on the wall ,while also taking photos that showcase a unique perspective, I’m here for it. The Fair reached out to me for a website refresh and was wanting to capture things that might not be the first thing people think of at the fair. But you know I had to get in on those, too. Shooting the bright colors and electric energy of the fair was easy, but it also made me slow down and take notice of the things that don’t always catch your attention. 

More Than Meets The Eye

There is so much more to the Pensacola Interstate Fair than the bright, glittery rides. For those who are less thrill seeking, there is something for you! My favorite part of the fair is never disappointing: the food. Coming in a close second are the animals that are showcased at the fair! Outside of people watching, there is also entertainment to see and the Pensacola Interstate Fair holds concerts as well. There are also vendors and exhibits indoors, as well as a custom car show.

Tradition and Nostalgia

There is something nostalgic about the Pensacola Interstate Fair for me. I remember going with my family or friends when I was a kid. The sweet smell of fried food in the air. The thrill of the rides that one come once a year. The feeling of adrenaline coursing through your veins. The excitement of taking your chances on winning a stuffed animal during a game. All of these emotions came rushing right back to me when I stepped onto the fairgrounds this year. After photographing for the Pensacola Interstate Fair, I think I may need to bring back this tradition!
