The Lewis Family has booked a Pensacola Beach Family Session before, but the conditions were less than ideal. They were on a time crunch for holiday pictures last December. My amazing associate, Christy photographed them and we prayed it would work. It was the ONLY day we had open before Christmas! We delivered, but while in the parking lot, their adorable son, Hudson tripped and fell in the parking lot. A scraped knee and some thunder clouds rolling through made their session a little more tricky than most but Christy nailed it and they got some adorable Christmas pictures. Making memories, am I right?

Why I love Photographing Mid-Day

When Taylor reached out to me to schedule for Spring I was so excited because Christy told me how amazing this family was! I wanted to make sure we got incredible, sunny weather and happy times for this go around. I recently attended a photography conference and met one of my gurus, Jennifer Lawrence at The Hybrid Co. What I love about her work is she photographs in full sun and I was dying to give it a try. I refer to this as mid-day magic. Let me tell you why…

1. When you photograph in full sun, you get the vivid colors of the sky, the ocean, and bright saturated colors that you LOVE seeing at the beach in daylight.
2. When you have kids under the age of four, we can plan the session around their normal nap times,. When you plan for sunset sessions in the summer, you’re typically photographing incredibly close to bed time. This can provoke crankiness and stress for the parents.
3. Sunrises and sunsets can be hit or miss. Sometimes it’s cloudy which gives you a bit of a muted look, and sometimes the sunset is beautiful. Either way, you can’t count on a consistent look.

I could go on and on, but I leave it at that for now. On to this beautiful family session..

Pensacola Beach Family Session

When the Lewis Family arrived for their Pensacola Beach Family Session, I already knew it was going to go swimmingly. No scraped knees, a blue sky, and they brought sand toys and fun items for Hudson to play with. This is always an amazing idea! Capturing your children in their true element is just as valuable as photographing them smiling at the camera. Their outfits were perfectly on point. We got some cute photos in the dunes and headed over to the beach where Hudson was ready to play!

I hope you can see the overflowing amount of joy in these photographs like I do. Hudson was well-rested, excited, and ready to play! Get ready to see more photo sessions of some vibrant, daytime looks. And maybe, some other new stuff coming your way, too! 🙂
